  2. Hey there, I'm Troye! Always wanted to join a clean tech forum but didn't find one until I found this one. I'm 18 and a freshmen in a college in Frankfurt. So I speak English and German. A first look at the NEW Apple Watch Series 4

Nice review, considering upgrading my current apple watch now. Do a review on the earpods?

I want to buy a Macbook, but which one?

    Don’t get a refurbished one ...
  5. Yes, I’d recommend it for sure as the new MS Office has plenty of new features.
  6. I remember them being in fashion but now they are gone? Never heard about them for a long time either... What are your thoughts?

You're a genius...well...you'll do for me anyway. Top answer...saved me a stinking headache, thank you

    Imap/pop

The workaround is mistyping your email address on the previous screen, and then fixing it while selecting IMAP on the incoming mail server screen.

What service provider are you trying to add? Apparently Apple is trying to build more logic into newer devices and automatically chooses POP3 when it thinks that IMAP is not available, or possibly when the ISP prefers phones be set to POP instead of IMAP.

    Imap/pop

Thanks for the reply...but that's just it...the next thing to happen is 4ticks next to each section of the account to indicate approved & then it returns me to the summary of all accounts page having successfully added a POP account! There is no option to choose imap or pop or exchange for that matter...as other instructions seem to suggest! Help!?!

    Imap/pop

After adding the details for the acocunt, the next screen that asks for the incoming mail server host name also has buttons at the top to let you select IMAP vs. POP

    Imap/pop

When trying to convert an existing pop account to imap on iPhone & iPad I am unable to select imap account. I select add account, other, add the details of the account, but am unable then to select imap or pop. It just sets it up automatically as pop..which I don't want! Any suggestions?
  13. That sounds like signature functionality. Tools > Account Settings > Check the "Use HTML" option beside the signature text box and enter your text. You can also use Insert > HTML in Compose window.
  14. [...throw them out the Window - defenestrate!] Dan, Nearly there... In the 'Write' dialog there used to be an option whereby I could insert a little formatted text file at the end of the email I was sending. Such as: <pre><b>Peter White</b> </pre> It was near the top of the Options menu, I can't remember the wording. I can't find out how to restore this option - maybe you would know?
  15. You have to love computers. Sometimes they just up and work other times you want to throw them out the Window. 🙂 Windows 10 is decent. I'm running in on both my machines. It's a bit of a leap from Windows 7. If you're happy with Windows 7, I'd stick with it. You will still get security patches for W7 until 2020*. *source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet
  16. Dan, Thunderbird back up to speed again so I don't have to install Mailbird or whatever! I got all the AddOns working from Safe Mode, reinstalling them (the latest X-Note is impressive). Still stuck in Safe Mode. I reinstalled Thunderbird 45-3-0. Still no go and went to bed. Booted up next day and bingo - Thunderbird usable again! I don't know why but my desktop PC has over a million files in it; next step W10?
  17. Theresa is one of the owners here. 🙂 You won't lose data by uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird. I have to say never come across Thunderbird stuck in safe mode. Try launching Thunderbird by directly from the Program Files folder and see what happens. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\ or C:\ Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\ (if you run 64-bit Windows) and double click on Thunderbird. The reason I'm asking you to navigate through the program files folder is most of what I read regarding Thunderbird being stuck in safe mode relates to the shortcuts (Start menu, Desktop, Task bar) for Thunderbird being changed to include the safe mode switch. Outside of that, I would start looking at some of your addons. If one hasn't been updated in a particularly long time. I would disable it then try restarting Thunderbird.
  18. Somebody called Theresa from forums@emailquestions.com contacted me. I replied but have heard nothing since. Would uninstalling Thunderbird and then reinstalling help - I don't want to lose my data?
  19. Last week I picked up a nasty via a friend of mine. PC dead slow, Thunderbird would not load. I started it in Safe Mode and all was well. (Kaspersky picked up a rogue QuickTime 7 which I removed). However Thunderbird insists on starting in Safe Mode. All my AddOns work but have to be enabled each time - I miss Show InOut at startup. How can I get back to starting in 'normal' mode?

    Wireless key board issue

Don't know anybody to hand with a keyboard. Will have to ask about.Thanks.

    Wireless key board issue

It's not necessarily your AV kit. It could be your heating system or something of your neighbour's. That was my main reason for asking about bluetooth, if that had problems too it makes it more likely. USB Keyboards is a standard class defined in the USB spec. The basic typing functionality is common across all systems, it doesn't have to be supported separately for windows or android. Do you know anyone else who uses a wireless keyboard? It might be worth taking it over to theirs and trying it alongside a working one, or borrowing theirs and trying it on your machine.

    Wireless key board issue

I know this odd I am about to state.Just trying to think outside the box.Would getting a USB hub make a difference?.I know in theory if USB receiver for the wireless keyboard does not work in any of the USB ports on the PC why would the receiver work in USB hub.My way of thinking was the USB ports are isolated from the PC itself case there is something internal on PC tower, interference ETC?.

    Wireless key board issue

PC does not have integrated Bluetooth. The only Bluetooth device in close proximity is the sky q box but the Bluetooth is not currently active, not using the feature (unless it's always active in a low power state?).I thought the keyboards were different manufacturers but since found out they may be the same manufacturer. They do state compatible with windows PC all windows versions.I think the keyboards are really marketed for android boxes though because of the compact nature of them (this is what I wanted though a compact keyboard, because I have incorporated PC into my AV system) ETC.I thought the same is it an interference issue.I am using high quality screened interconnects, cables ETC and a isotek mains block.Unless these things won't make a difference in this respect?.When I tried keyboard in notebook that was in my bedroom away from other electricals.

"I did to try both keyboards on a asus notebook, a newer computer. But no joy.I still find it hard to believe both keyboards faulty.A poser this one". It's far more likely if they don't work on two different PCs. It could be interference. It's worth turning off all the electrical devices in your house at the plug except and trying them again. Or take the laptop to the beach or park and try it. It sounds like you're using wi-fi though so that presumably works acceptably. What about bluetooth devices? Do you regularly use any of them? They're closer to the low power transmissions of a wireless keyboard. Are both keyboards from the same brand? Or both generic brands that could share the same designer.

    Wireless key board issue

"Yes I have tried the keyboard right in front of the PC.Still no luck I am afraid.Am I right in thinking that it's a 2.4 Ghz receiver you plug into the USB on PC for the keyboard, does that work independently or does the WIFI on the router come into play as well for the receiver to work?." Most of them operate at 2.4Ghz yes, but they use custom protocols and not wi-fi so they only connect to their own receiver and neither your router nor your PC's wi-fi.

No both keyboards are stated as plug and play so no drivers required.I have been into windows settings and devices are showing and stated working no issues. I have even tried updating drivers but windows says no need up to date driver installed. No both keyboards are stated as plug and play so no drivers required.I have been into windows settings and devices are showing and stated working no issues.
